PRIVATE PRACTICE

Tilly and I are bringing our holistic, client-centred approach to Mental Health Counselling. We prefer to provide counselling out in nature as nature is a great assistant in healing the heart and mind at a local park or walk and talk, and we have an office for those who prefer to sit and chat...

I am a certified animal-assisted therapist through Therapy Dogs NSW. My love of training dogs led me to obtain my certificate III in dog training and behaviour and I am the owner and head trainer of Therapy Dogs NSW a training school for therapy, service and assistance dogs.

Victim Services Counselling - Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Counsellng

I am an experienced Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Counsellor and provide services through Victim Services

Depression & Anxiety

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.

Trauma & PTSD

Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.

MINDFULNESS and meditation groups

Mindfulness teaches us to live in the moment and what better way to learn that than from our canine friends, masters of living in the now. A mindfulness session will be a little different from normal counselling as you will focus on being in the now with Rosie and Tilly, you will become part of the pack for an hour running, playing and training the dogs – getting back to the basics just like when you were younger and naturally lived in the NOW. The session is great for people with anxiety and depression – but not dog phobia, though great for desensitisation work! – to learn how to Acknowledge, Accept and Address anxiety. We have an initial session where we work out your goals and subsequent sessions are tailed to help you meet your goals and enjoy doing it.

Relationships

Relationship counseling utilizing the Gottman method which is backed by 30 years of research into how couples can improve and sustain relationships.  Couples counselling is not just for couples in conflict but is beneficial to couples in all stages of relationship, from just beginning to life long partners. Therapy sessions follow the Gottman process which includes

  1. Initial meeting with the couple to find out your story and why you feel counselling is appropriate
  2. an assessment of the relationship via questionnaires
  3. one individual session with each partner
  4. A feedback session where we discuss the outcome of the questionnaires and individual sessions and discuss issues and solutions to better strengthen your relationship.
